A little History About Us and Weaving…
Quemsa Afrique‘s handmade sashes uses rich, traditional African weaving techniques — primarily wool-based fabrics like Kente, famously worn by royals in Ghana for generations.
Across Africa, weaving has been a form of art, identity, and storytelling (Tap to Read More)
– In Northern Ghana, we have the smock fabric, a heavier, textured weave made with deep cultural symbolism.
– In Nigeria, the regal Aso Oke cloth is used in weddings and significant ceremonies.
– In Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso, variations like Faso Dan Fani and Kita cloth showcase handwoven threads with heritage patterns.
– In Ghana’s Volta Region, people weave a type of Kente cloth called Kete. It’s known for its bright colors and bold patterns, each with its own meaning. Kete is worn during special moments like festivals, graduations, and family events.
